A model relationship with Dan (KM article)
A beneficiary of the Kent Foundation is a Folkestone-based body artist, Dan, who specialises in promotional services, providing models with full body painting, for gigs and events.
Dan was told about the Kent Foundation when he visited a young person's information centre, C@FE IT, in Folkestone. He made contact via the website and soon had his first meeting with the director, Paul Barron.
During the discussion it emerged that the most appropriate service would be "Test Trading", a monthly grant equating to two days per week salary, so that Dan could gain income during the formative few months of his business. As is commonly accepted, this is a period of time when generating income is at its most difficult point.
Dan now provides models for clubs and promotional events throughout the South East.
The "Test Trading" service helped Dan with his cash flow. Purchasing paints and other materials during a period of 12 weeks Dan was able to concentrate on networking and establishing a good reputation when income may have otherwise been too restrictive for the business to flourish.
