About Us

In Short

Our History

The Kent Foundation was launched in 1985. The Rt Hon Lord Aldington who was the appointed board chairman invited Kent’s young entrepreneurs and the press to a reception in the grounds of Leeds Castle.

A need had been identified for business support for aspiring young entrepreneurs across Kent. The Kent Foundation was (and still is) a place for ambitious young business owners of Kent to express their business ideas and get the support to turn them into a reality and boost the economy of Kent through business creation, business startup and business growth.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure young people of Kent get the support they need to be successful in starting and growing a business, so contributing to the overall success of Kent.

Current Success.

Over the last 12 months, we have supported 75 businesses. It costs us around £500 to provide 12 months of support for one business owner.

Our Services

Business Advice & Mentoring

A one to one informal meeting where we will grab a cup of coffee (tea if you prefer) at a time/location that suits you. We will find out more about you, your business idea and your vision for the future and what business support you require. Our Business Mentors are all experienced business people from across Kent who volunteer their time to support Kent’s aspiring young business owners. Every mentor attends a 1.5 day induction course to develop their mentoring knowledge and deliver effective business support.

Business Support Workshops

We have developed a wide range of interactive, explorative and confidence building workshops which can be delivered in schools, colleges and universities. The aim is to promote and encourage young people to explore the option of business as a career option, however most of the skills learnt are multi functional and will be extremely useful in employment too. Workshops are tailor made to suit your needs (small charge may apply).

Kent Enterprise Initiatives

A series of events/workshops that can be delivered in specific local areas to boost awareness and business startup among young people. Previous business startup initiatives we have delivered have been in West Kent, Shepway, Ramsgate, Edenbridge and Sandwich.

Business Networking

We regularly host networking events designed to bring young business owners together. We know and understand that business can be lonely so getting together regularly with other like minded business owners can be a real boost for your business.
